Updates have been made to the CHIPmedicaid.org website to reflect new co-payments for the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) and revised income limits for both CHIP and Children’s Medicaid. The new figures feeding the online calculators and charts on the website are based on revised federal poverty limits and state changes in CHIP co-payments that go into effect March 1.

In addition, people with CHIP coverage now have more tools on the website to manage their CHIP cases. CHIP members can use the website to pick their CHIP medical and dental plans, search for CHIP doctors and dentists in their area, and update their address, phone number, and email address.

To get to the case management features, go to www.CHIPmedicaid.org, click the “Log in/Create Account” button in the upper right corner of the screen, then log in with your username and password. New users can create an account. Members searching for CHIP doctors and dentists in their area can do so without logging in.

People looking to apply for CHIP/Children’s Medicaid or renew CHIP coverage can fill out the application online and submit it through the secure website.

You can view or update your subscriptions, password or e-mail address at any time on your User Profile Page. All you will need are your e-mail address and your password (if you selected one).

This service is provided to you at no charge by Texas Health and Human Services Commission.

The Texas Department of Insurance has prepared an informal working draft of rules concerning establishment of a voluntary open enrollment period and qualifying event exceptions for individual health coverage of children under the age of 19.  In addition to the informal rules, a stakeholder meeting has been scheduled from 3 to 5 p.m. on February 13, 2012, to discuss the informal working draft.  A copy of the informal rules and information on the stakeholder meeting are available at:
